According to a Gallup study, 87% of workers worldwide are emotionally disconnected from their workplaces. Furthermore, 1 in 3 people dream of starting their own business. But only 1 in 10 actually take the leap. Leaving those who don’t take the leap wondering “what if” on a daily basis. Meanwhile, 8 out of 10 entrepreneurs who do start businesses fail within the first 18 months. And according to a study by Dr. Michael Freeman, 1 in 3 entrepreneurs experience depression.
Given these statistics, why do many of us - especially Millennials - assume that starting our own business is the ultimate gateway to happiness, freedom and success?
In this talk, Mark Leruste, founder & host of The Unconventionalists, will explore why we believe the grass is always greener on the other side. He'll share what he believes is at the root of this belief, and it doesn't involve starting a business or landing your dream job. He should know! He quit his dream job (twice!) and in the last decade has been involved in starting three businesses.
